Award-Winning Program Gets a Boost

Inspired by the Evolution in New Media and Education

The new 8,500-square-foot facility will be located on the site of the current one, which is located on the western side of the Waianae High campus. The award-winning program has long outgrown the two buildings (totaling approximately 5,500 square feet) that Searider Productions currently uses.

“The proposed design is unique and will transform the facility to be used for a multitude of purposes, from assemblies to small-group meetings and more,” added DOE Assistant Superintendent Dann Carlson.

WhiteSpace Architects’ design will include a new lobby/entry, “makery space” or shop, two new classrooms, an office-conference room, new restrooms, covered lanai and a flexible multi-purpose open courtyard that will be used for classes and to host other gatherings.

“We are inspired and humbled by the idea of creating a new campus for Searider Productions that remains connected to other parts of Waianae High,” says Ayers, principal.

“This is a dream come true,” stated Candy Suiso, program director for Searider Productions. “We are growing in ways we never imagined. This new facility will provide for more space to expand our program as well as allow us to keep up with changing technology now and into the future. It will also be important for our early college programs in creative media.”

During construction, Searider Productions will temporarily relocate to another space on the Waianae High School campus.
