Punahou Chapel - Office & Pergola Redesign

Punahou School’s Thurston Memorial Chapel is a historic building that has been the beloved heart of the campus for generations. The school desired a new pergola and well-lit walkway sheltered by a discrete, improved roof. The distinctive trellised pergola was redesigned and still provides protection from the elements, allowing for the continued tradition of student and community gatherings under the shelter of more sustainable materials. Contemporary lighting illuminates the courtyard.

The interior of the new Punahou Chapel Office was wholly redesigned with a more welcoming reception area, creation of office spaces for chaplains, and updated administrative facilities. The office now aligns with current staff use, with an eye constantly toward the future.

WhiteSpace was very responsive to our needs and made themselves available to us and the Contractor during the entire process.” — Charlotte Kamikawa, Director, Physical Plant
