Residential Renovation

Waialae Renovation

WhiteSpace Architects recently completed the renovation of a single-family residence that was the home of the late, award-winning local architect Howard M.Y. Wong, who designed it in the 1960s for his own family.

The current owners agreed with WhiteSpace that the unique exterior – with its unusual angles, open roof, exposed steel and entry-bridge walkway – needed to be maintained. But WhiteSpace envisioned radically updating the interior of the home, which had not stood the test of time and lacked the openness and connectivity of living spaces that families often prefer today.
